Produced by Foshan Cantonese Opera Troupe, Cantonese Opera Film The Legend of The White Snake uses location shooting for some scenes and blends traditional Cantonese Opera with modern cinematic elements, telling the love story between the thousand-year-old snake demon Bai Suzhen and Xu Xian. The film boasts an impressive production line-up, featuring Li Shuqin, the director of Foshan Cantonese Opera Troupe, a national first-class actor and a winner of the China Theatre Plum Blossom Award, who performed as Bai Suzhen. Meanwhile, the renowned Hong Kong Cantonese Opera actor Law Ka-ying plays Xu Xian, under the direction of the national first-class director, Yin Dawei. This film received multiple nominations at the 2nd Hong Kong Bauhinia International Film Festival, including Best Film and Best Art Direction. Li Shuqin won Best Actress Award while Law Ka-ying received Lifetime Achievement Award.

Li Shuqin is currently serving as the director of the Foshan Cantonese Opera Troupe and the leading actress. She is also a national first-class performer, and has won the 21st China Theatre Plum Blossom Award and the Actor in a Leading Role prize at the Shanghai White Magnolia Awards for Theatrical Art. She also earned the Best Actress Award at the 2nd Hong Kong Bauhinia International Film Festival.
Law Ka-ying
Law Ka-ying is a renowned Cantonese Opera veteran in Hong Kong, enjoying a prestigious status in the local circle. His outstanding artistic achievements and contributions to the Cantonese Opera have made him an important representative figure in the Chinese operatic culture. In recognition of his remarkable artistic accomplishments, Law Ka-ying was awarded the Medal of Honour by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government in 2012, the World Outstanding Chinese Award in 2013, and the Bronze Bauhinia Star by the HKSAR Government in 2018.

Since its establishment in 1957, Foshan Cantonese Opera Troupe aims at training Cantonese Opera talents, preserving excellent Cantonese Opera , preserving excellent Cantonese Opera repertoires, as well as promoting its development. In recent years, the troupe has actively explored the integration of Cantonese Opera and modern culture, and has lunched cross-border collaborative film works such as Empress Zhou the Lesser, Xiaofengxian and The Legend of The White Snake. While preserving the traditional artistic characteristics, it has also attracted more young audiences to pay attention to Cantonese Opera.
